Yeah. I welcome this challenge. On the Battenkill fishing for wild fish. These low water conditions require you to be extra stealthy. I get any closer and I'm sure I'll spook them.

Got him. There we go. This is a wild brown trout. Small guy. Take it all day long. Look how beautiful these fish are.

I find one of the most enjoyable things about dry fly fishing too is even if you don't get them, just to get that fish to come up and take your fly. To me, that's that's what it's about. There's times when I'll even break the hooks off of my flies. I don't necessarily need to catch them. I just want to know what they want. What they're going to feed on.

For my clients, knowing what fly to use, how to present them without having caught the fish, a lot of information can be gained. You really need to be in top of your game, especially when it comes to dry fly fishing, which we really focus on at Trico, and what it takes to learn to to present a dry fly in a proper manner.

So I don't know about you, but I got an eye on this fish over here, so I'm going to go get him, see what we can do. There he is. He just showed himself again. Getting in position here is tough. There he is. He came up again. Yeah, he's pretty steady. I think we're going to get one shot at this guy, given how slow and low and clear this water is. If we didn't spook them already, we might have a shot at them.

Oh, right by my fly. Did you see that take. Oh. That was right by him. Okay, so timing was was off there. Let's see. So we threw that caddis fly at that fish numerous times. Not every one of my drifts was great, but they were pretty good. So we're going to try to present an ant now.

Oh. Oh, man. Double check my back cast. Raise. I'm also going to make my false casts off to the left here and create a splash on the water. High presentation cast downstream. Let the fly go down.

Think it's in it's feeding lane. We got him up – oh, I’m in the trees. But we got him. We got him.
